How to Use a Ring Sling: Step-by-Step Video Tutorial
A woven Ring Sling combines the ergonomic diagonal support of a woven wrap with effortless, knot-free speed. Watch our step-by-step tutorial below to learn how to thread the rings, seat your newborn or toddler deeply in the ergonomic M-position, and tighten rail by rail.
Step-by-Step Guide: Threading & Tightening a Ring Sling
- Thread & sort the fabric: Accordion-gather the tail, pass it up through both seamless SlingRings, then back over the top ring and down through the bottom ring. Spread the fabric evenly around the rings without overlapping rails so tightening stays silky smooth.
- Start with the rings high: Drape the sling diagonally across one shoulder and position the rings high at corsage height (just below your collarbone), since they settle slightly downward as you tighten.
- Create a deep seat (M-position): Pre-size the pouch closely, hold your baby high against your free shoulder, and guide their feet gently into the pouch. Tuck the bottom rail snugly up between you and your baby from knee-pit to knee-pit so their knees sit higher than their bottom.
- Tighten strand by strand: Support your baby's weight gently with one forearm while pulling the tail in the exact direction each rail enters the rings (horizontally across your chest for the top rail, diagonally for the middle, downward for the bottom rail).
- Spread the shoulder & check airways: Cap the gathered shoulder wide over your shoulder joint (away from your neck) and confirm your baby is close enough to kiss with clear, visible airways.
