Woven wrap sizes
If you are new to babywearing, and especially to babywearing with a long wrap, one of your first questions will probably be “What size of the woven wrap should I get?” The size of the woven wrap you will need depends on the two factors: your size and the types of carries you want to do. Woven wraps come in the following sizes:
- size 1 – 2,2 meters
- size 2 – 2,6-2,7 meters
- size 3 – 3,2 meters
- size 4 – 3,6 – 3,7 meters
- size 5 – 4,1 – 4,2 meters
- size 6 – 4,6 – 4,7 meters
- size 7 – 5,1 – 5,2 meters
- size 8 – 5,6 – 5,7 meters
- size 9 – 6,2 meters
To start babywearing you need a woven wrap in your base size. Your base size wrap is the length (size) of the woven wrap which allows you to tie the basic carries such as Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC) and Back Wrap Cross Carry (BWCC). Your base size wrap depends on your clothing size. Check the following table to determine what your base size wrap is:

Here is an overview of shorter wrap size.
-
Size 1 – 2,2 meters. With this lengths of the woven wrap you can do a new sew ring sling carry, a hip carry with a slip knot or a happy carry with a dobule knot. Size 1 can also be used as a scarf or a shawl. You can keep your neck and shoulders warm, and make a quick hip carry for your tired toddler when necessary.
-
Size 2 – 2,6 – 2,7 meters. This size is still suitable for new sew ring sling, or hip carry, and allows you to tie carries which requires slightly more fabrics, such as Rucksack (tied under bum).
-
Size 3 – 3,2 meters. This size allows you to tie one layer back carry such as Rucksack, hip carry or torso carry.
-
Size 4 – 3,6 – 3,7 meters. With this size you can comfortably tie different Rucksack variations, various hip carries such as Hip Cross Carry and some of the front carries such as Kangaroo Carry.
